About Thinking Africa

The Department of Political and International Studies at Rhodes University launched, Thinking Africa, in 2011 with the objective of creating an internationally renowned postgraduate programme on African studies.

The project was officially launched in July that year with a range of different events including; a Colloquium, a Winter School and a Postgraduate Proposal Writing Workshop. The theme was Fanon: 50 Years Later in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the death of Frantz Fanon.

This blog contains resources useful for engaging with Fanon here and now as well as writings on related themes by staff and students in the department.

Thinking Africa also runs a blog on The Idea of Africa.
